The Health Care Improvement Practices Registry (Registry) serves
as a source of health care improvement practices from organizations across
multiple health care sectors in Ontario. All practices appearing on the
Registry have met the minimum criteria of using quantitative
measures to evaluate the success of the described initiative.
The Registry is designed to support and foster a culture of continuous
quality improvement in Ontario's health care system by leveraging the
collective experiences of providers and administrators and spreading these
practices so that others can benefit from this shared learning By adopting and
adapting applicable improvement practices from the Registry to their own
settings, providers (individuals and organizations) can improve the health care
services that they deliver.
Practices submitted to the Registry must meet minimum inclusion
criteria in order to be posted on the Registry. Once a practice is
accepted, a classification system based on
the types of measures used (i.e. process or outcome measures) and the results
achieved, is applied to the practices. According to the type of activities that
are involved, each practice is placed in one or more categories
as established by the
Celebrating Innovations in Health Care Expo.
Registry News
The first set of practices featured on the Registry was submitted from various
hospitals and Community Care Access Centres (CCACs) from across the province.
They were solicited through calls for submission from the 2006 Celebrating
Innovations in Health Care Expo participants as well as by the
Ministry of Health & Long-Term Care as part of the Information
Management Strategy. The Health Care Expo continues to be a source of
improvement practices which impact hospitals, CCACs, and long-term care homes.
